CA Foundation course is the 1st level of ca course. This is an entry level exam to join in CA course. CA foundation is previously known as CPT. The students who want to set a career as chartered accountant, this foundation course is the first step to them. This CA foundation course is conducted by ICAI.

Foundation Course Eligibility
As this is the 1st level of ca exam, there is a certain eligibility criteria to register for foundation exam. To register for CA foundation course the candidate should complete 10+2 of any stream with an aggregate of 60% marks from any recognized board. Foundation exam is held twice a year in months of May and November.
CA Foundation Registration
The ICAI conducts foundation course entrance exam. The exam is conducted 2 times for a year in months of May and November. The students should apply for this exam through online by visiting official website of ICAI. The ICAI conducts foundation exam in offline mode.
A student who want to attempt foundation level entrance exam should undergo 4 months study period after completing their intermediate. The students who want to write foundation exam in the month of November should register for exam in the month of June and who want to write exam in May should register for exam in the month of December.
After registering for foundation course and filling the online form the student should pay fees online and submit the printed application form along with required documents to the regional offices. After completing the registration process the study material will be sent to the students through Centralized Dispatch Process. If the student registers for foundation course he/she can attempt the Foundation course for 5 times.
Foundation Course Syllabus
Foundation course consists of 4 papers, out of which 2 papers are objective and 2 papers are subjective. There is a negative marking for objective paper.

- Paper-2: Business Law & Business Correspondence and Reporting (100 Marks)
Section A: Business Law (60 Marks)
Section B: Business Correspondence and Reporting (40 Marks) - Paper-3: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning & Statistics (100 Marks)
Part I: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning (60 Marks)
Part II: Statistics (40 Marks) - Paper-4: Business Economics & Business and Commercial Knowledge (100 Marks)

Here paper 3 and paper 4 are objective type and there will be negative marking. The minimum passing criteria of CA foundation exam is the student should score 40% marks in each paper and should get aggregate of 50% marks for all 4 papers.
Syllabus for CA Foundation Exam
The study material and syllabus for the foundation course will be issued by ICAI. The syllabus varies from one paper to another. Each paper is conducted for 100 marks and in total for 400 marks for 4 papers.
